ROGRESS was reported -in New . York’s anti-noise campaign due to the volumtary co-operation .of ‘"Tin-Pan-Alley." Practically all, the metropolitan hotel orchestras under the leadership of Enoch Light, well-known baton wielder, offered to co-operate; and, subsequently db. meters (noise level indicators) were used to determine the most comfortable hearing levels for playing popular tunes in the ballrooms and restaurants of the respective hotels.
