RENCH entertainment authorities .are protesting against amusement taxes, and claim that these should be shifted on to broadcasting. On March 20 there was to have been an amusement strike, in which the co-opera-tion of the broadcasters was sought, that they should remain silent so that the public might not be able to get their amusement at home. It is understood that a bill will be introduced to institute a tax on radio advertising, the proceeds of which will go to assist the entertainment industry. N "Electrone"’ organ, first demonstrated at Radiolympia, London, last year, is to be added to the effects of the huge cinema organ. in the B.B.C.’s_ _-- vaudeville theatre, St. George’s Hall. The sound is made by. the application of electro-magnetic pick-ups to revolving discs engraved with varying wave forms.
