Materials required: One ball (29 gram) Coats’s Mercer-Crochet No. 60s. white; steel crochet hook No. 5; piece white organdie, Vtin, x liin. (18.5 x 3.25ems.). ’
This Jabot is made of chain crochet, and is vety simple to make. It has a foundation strip of organdie with a flared edging crocheted round. Three semi-circular flares are made and attached across the organdie strip to give the frilly appearance. Cut a piece of white organdie (double) to measure 74fin. x IdZin. (18.5 x 3.25 cms). Machine together, rounding one end. Trim seams, turn inside out, turn in top ends and slip stitch together. Commence tin. (1.25cms) from top (square end), use a double thread of Mercer-Crochet, and _ button stitch round sides and bottom. ‘The button stitch should be
about 1-8in. (.25cms) apart and catching only a small piece of material. Crochet: Commence in first button stitch loop, 6ch, lde into next loop, 6ch ldc into next loop, continue working round to last button stitch loop, turn. 2nd row: 7ch, ldc into first loop, 7ch 1dc into next loop, continue working to end of round, turn. 3rd-7th rows: Same as 2nd row, only having 1 more ch in each loop in.each row. 8th row: Same as 7th row (12ch in each loop). Finish off. Commence in last button
stitch make 23ch, ldc into first button stitch, turn. * 6ch Idec over ch, repeat from * 23 times more, ending with. 1lde into first ch, turn. * 7ch ldc into first loop, continue working as for outside frill. Measure down 2in. (5.10cms) from beginning of crochet. Join thread in button stitch, make 23ch, ldc in corresponding button stitch on other side, turn. * 6ch ldc over ch, repeat from * 18 times more, turn. Continue working same as top frill. Measure down 2in. and make a 3rd frill, having 17sps in first row instead of 19 © as in previous frill. Finish off: Starch slightly. Abbreviations: Ch-chain; dc-double. crochet.
