ATERIALS required: 7 Balls Coats’ MerM cer-Crochet No. 3 White (20 gr.), Crochet hook No. 3 plus 18; or 3 Balls Coats’ "Mercer-Crochet No. 20’s F. 610 Ecru Re (20 gr.). Crochet hook No. 34 plus 19. 4 NECK BAND.-Make a chain 373 inches long. Into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 de into each ch along row, 2 ch, turn. * 1 de into each de of previous row, 2 ch, turn. Repeat from * for 5-8 inches. Break off thread. 1st row: Join thread 10 inches from end of band and work a row of loops along band for 174 inches, 2 ch, turn. To make a loop, make a ch 3-8in. long and 1 dc into de of band, having jin. between de. The collar is worked in the following 4 rows throughout, increasing the length of chain for loop and adding more ‘de’s to keep work flat. Always work an uneven number of dc into each loop. 2nd row: Dc into each loop ‘to end of row, make a chain 3-8 inches long, turn. 3rd row: 1 dc into centre of first loop, * make a chain 3-8in: long, 1 de into centre de of next loop, repeat froth * to last loop, make a chain f-inch long, 1 tr into last de of previous row, 2 ch, turn. 4th row: Dc into half loop at beginning of row, * work dc into next loop, repeat from * to second last loop, de into first half of last loop, make a chain 3-8in. plus 2 ch, turn. 5th row: 1 dc into centre dc of first whole loop, * make a chain 3-8in. long, 1 de into centre de of next loop, repeat from * to last whole loop, make a chain 3-8in. long, 1 tr into last de of previous row, 2 ch, turn. Repeat from second row until collar measures 14in. from band at centre back, finishing on a de row. (Always measure from centre back of collar). Increase the length of chain from 3-8in. to din. and Hin. to 3-8in. Next row: Work along row for 7 inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Work to end of next row, working 1 dc into same place as
last de of 7 inches. Work along next row for 7 inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Continue working in pattern until collar measures 2} inches. Next row: Work along row for 9 inches, turn’ and work in pattern to end of row. Work to end of next row, working 1 dc into same place as last dc of 9 inches. Work along next row for 9 inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Continue working in pattern until collar measures 34 inches. Increase the length of chain from $in. to 5-8in. and 3-8in. to 4in. Next row: Work along row for 10 inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Work to end of next row, working 1 de into same place as last de of 10 inches. ~Work along next row for 10 inches, turn and work in patterti to end of row. Continue working in 1 pattern until collar measures 44 inches. Next row: Work along row for 114 inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Work to end of next row, working 1 dc into same place as last de of 113 inches. Work along next row for 11} inches, turn and work in pattern to end of row. Continue working in pattern until collar measures 5% inches. Increase the length of chain from 5-8in. to in. and 4in. to 5-8in. Continue working in pattern until collar measures 6% inches, finishing on a ch row. Break off thread. Join thread to side of collar at neck band and work dc into each space round collar.
