American stations are weak, though WOAT still maintains its strength of R6-7 at 4 p.m. Only flutters can be raised on the 100-watt stations. KDB (1500 k.c,) and KFBK (1310 k.c.) come through oceasionally. Dxers who have KGMB_ and KIFAC on their "black" lists should not fail to report to them again, as they have been replying promptly lately. XGOW, the new Chinese station on 1000 k.c. approximately (5 k.w.), has been signing off at 130 a.m. XMHC, XQHC, XHHX and XHHG also reach good volume. Indian stations are noisy. MTCY is always heterodyned and is generally R5, while XGOQA is R7-S.-"Pegoska" "(Te Puke). Eastern Stations Good, / (CONDITIONS at present are yery good for Eastern reception, and on the ,- morning of July 5 there were so many on the dial that I did not know which one to log first. The Indians were also good. VUC and VUB were R3-4 at times, but the QSA dropped to 1-2 when they announced, . I also heard KEI, WLUW and KMOX open up, So the "Yanks" will soon be coming in. An extract from a verification from KGW, Portland, Oregon, states: "For your informa-. tion Station KGW ie a modern Western Blectric plant of 1000 watts power, Jt is completely equipned with laboratory engineered apparatus and is one of the few stations of its size in the west that enjoys this distinction.
