This week has seen the confirmation of the rumour that the world’s most famous comedy team, Laurel and Hardy, has been split. The story goes that Laurel refused to signa new year’s contract, because it provided for a continuation of two-reel comedies whereas he wanted to appear in full-length comedies only. Moreover Laurel is anxious to become a producer on his own account. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has informed him that it is quite willing to listen to a proposition of that kind if Laurel can find a film scenario that. looks worthwhile. George Bancroft has been approached with a view to forming a Laurel-Bancroft teagn, but nothing has eventuated yét. Above are the famous pair—Laurel and Hardy.
