Poor to-night, with noise level and slight fading. Signals R5, QSA4, at 10.45 p.m. JVN, 28.14m., talk being given in Japanese; very "clear and steady signals, which were R7, QSA5, at. 10.52 .p.m.
YDA, 49,02m., lady heard speaking. This is the best station on the 49m.. band round 11 p.m. Always good music, Sig-. nals RG, QSA4, at 11.9 p.m. . PEKYDB, 67.11m., with a musical programme. Not very strong. Signals only R4, QSA8, at 11.24 p.m. , PMY, 58m., with a programme of good | music, Signals Rd, QSA8, at 11.80 p.m. RVi5, 70,1m., programme of orchestral and vocal music, Wonderful volume ionight, R8, QSA5, at 11.35 p.m. PKiWK, 85.96m., station also with a musical programme, but fairly weak, R4, QSA8, at 11.45 p.m. TUESDAY, APRIL 23. FYA, 25.28m., musica] programme, but very -poor, signals R4, QSA8, at 7.45 a.m. 2R0, Rome, 30,7m., with the usual good music, Rd, QSA4, at 7.47 a.m, RNE, Russia, 25m., heard at-7.50 a.m., with musical items. At 7.50 p.m._fhe "International" was heard, after whjich speech was heard in German, at gédod loudspeaker strength. This was easily the best morning station. Signals RBS,-: QSA5, at 7.5 a.m. | OER2, Vienna, 49.3m.,. musical programme, but weak. R22, QSA2, at 7.11 a.m, DJC, Germany, 49.83m., musical programme, but also weak, R4, QSA4 at 7.14 am. FYA, France, 25.60m., news session being given out in French. A few minutes later a programme of music was heard, At 12.31 p.m. very good signals. Music not so distorted to-day. , DJA, 31.38m., with the usual programme of excellent music at 12.55 p.m. Signals R4, QSAS8. CJRX, Canada, 25.6m., musical programme, but very weak. This station cau be heard between 2 and 8 p.m,, when FYA is off the air. The power of CJIRX is 2000 watts, and it is on the same frequeney as FYA, . WGLD, 20m., American amateur é phone, heard well] to-day, They have not been heard as well as they were this time last year, XEBT, Mexico, 49.8m., coming in well to-day with musical items, also talks in Spanish. . WS8XK, 48,9m.; musical items, dance programme at very good yolume, R7, QSAS5, at 5.20 p.m. GSD, London, 25.53m., musica! .programme, Signals not of great volume, but clear. No stations heard at above hour had any entertain- \
ment value, the Empire station being the best, with FYA next, but all very weak. FYA, France, 25.60m., news being given out in French. Signals not steady, due, of course, to conditions, which were . not good. Signals R5, QSA4, at 1.40 mm. DJA, Germany, 31.38m., putting over musical items, consisting of very fine mixed choir singing. Signals at fair strength, but the same applies here as to FYA, Station closed at 2.9 p.m. with a signal strength of R7, QSA5, and the playing of the German National Anthem. Spanish station heard on 25.6m. at 2.15 pm, This will be HJ4ABA, They announce both in Spanish and English. Information re this station was given out from W8XK, 25.25m., during DX tips on Saturday, April 18. HJ4ABA can be picked up just after FYA closes at 2 p.m. ‘They are on the air from 11 a.m. WSXK, 25.25m. At present "Land of Hope and Glory" being played by orchestra. Signals R5. QSA4 at 2.25 p.m. Five minutes later some good mixed choir singing was heard. WSXK, 48.9m., dance music programme with good volume. Very soon the American stations on the 49m. band will be closing round 4.80 p.m., when they put on their clocks an hour for summer time. Signals R7, QSA5, at 5.40 p.m. WO9OXF, 49.18m., dance music. Signals spoilt by high noise level. R2, QSA1, at 5.44 p.m. VPD, Fiji, 22.96m., usual programme of recorded music. Station excellent tonight, except for some slight fading. Signals R7, QSA5, at 5.50 p.m. GSB, 31.55m., speeches heard in celebration. of the Shakespearean birthday festivals from Stratford-upon-Avon. Stathon very good and clear, also steady. ignals R8, QSA5, at 5.53 p.m. VKSME, 31.5m., musical programme of recordings, R7, QSA5, at 11.15 p.m.

On the minute of 7 a.m., our time,-one hears the bells of St, Peter’s, Rome, striking the hour, then the call-sign is given, after which a talk is given for.fifteen. minttes, Spanish being the language this morning. Wonderful volume, R8, QSA5. .ORK, Belgium, 29.04m., programme of incidental music coming over very well at7.55 am, Signals R6, QSA5, Closed at 8 am. with the Belgian National Anthem. 2R0, Rome, 30.7m. Putting over programme of grand opera. Anyone wishing for good musie in the mornings is advised to tune in to 2RO from 7.30 a.m. Much cheering and clapping is heard, which would indicate programme being relayed from some opera house in Rome. Signals R7, QSA5, at 8.10.a.m, RNE, Russia, 25m., programme of firstclass music, at R7, QSA5, at 8.15 a.m, GSB, 31.5m., programme of orchestral items with good volume, R7, QSA5, at 7.28 a.m.
