Mexicans can be heard any night at 6.45 p.m., the best being XHMO, XHAW, and XELO (1120 k.e.). Although the postman seems to haye lost my address, I have been doing well with new loggings. They are: WOR (on test), KOL, KGBS, WWL_ (on test), Franfurt, Genoa, Radio LL (Paris), Juan-les-Pins, XEMO (Second), XHAW, XELO, KGMB (second), WOXBY (1530 k.e.),, W2XR (1550 ke.), 5MU, 2PN, Canberra (1490 ke), 8WR, Stapleton (fourth), KHLW and Stalino, The Europeans are still too weak to enable me to make any new loggings, but several high-powered ones can be heard between 5 and 6 a,m.---i186W (Weilington). KEE Cannot Verify! Y latest loggings are:-Short-wave: COC, Havana, Cuba; YDA, VK3XJ. W1XK (formerly WIXAZ). Early evening Americans are coming in well at 6 p.m., my best being KNX, KPO, KFI, WHONR, KOA, WLW, ana KSL,.-a14W. (Wellington). Evening Americans Good. RECEPTION here lately has been patchy, static being very heavy on some nights. In general, Bastern reception has been fair, while early evening Americans have been very good. Some of the first ones to appear are WLW, KMOX, WOAL. WSM, KDKA, followed by KFI, KNX,
koa. KSL, WBBM, KPO, KFOX, WENR, and KOMO. Latest loggings are JOSK, JOOK, KGB, WFAA, KIDW, WBT, WMAQ, CFCI. Verifications received are from JOAK-1, JONK, Poste Parisien, KGHL, KFYR, KARK, WHBL, WHAS (No. 1 stamp), and KMMJ, who sent.an Hkko, a photograph of the station, and a blank order form for H. Johnson Co.’s "Trusty Coffee." -226W (Petone). Americans at Excellent Volume. ID* reception has been excellent during the last fortnight, but in spite of this, new stations are hard to find. American stations have shown a wonderful improvement, and the dial is quite crowded at
7 pm. The best station of them all is XEPN, with KNX coming in a élose second: 1YA has spoilt reception of KFT. WOR, when testing the 50 k.w, transmitter, was received at remarkable volume and clarity of tone. Although 8YA was ‘only a point away from WOR, there was no interference from the former station. Recent loggings are XIX, Mexico City, and the new XELO, on 1110 k.c. Verifications are few and far hetween. A recent one is from WBOQ. With the. verification I received the following letter from Mr. Philip R. Nichole, vice-presi- | dent N.N.R.G. ~ "T was very much pleased and inter(Continued on page 43.)

ested in your letter, and details as to your location and receiver. You may happen to wonder how I verify reception for the C.B.S. They put on’ the pro‘gramme for our Club at my request, and asked me to take on the job of verifying all reports for them, supplying me with their own paper and envelopes,’ so that the. verifications would be officia:. You may realise what a job it has been when you know that I have had to type-_ write each verification myself, sign it, check the reports with the official log to be sure they were correct, and get them out aS soon as possible, "A personal note. I have been dxing for about three years, using a 9-valye T.R.F., 1929 model, and have at present 722 verifications in my log book, coming from 23 countries. I get a lot of fun dxing, but haven’t. any elaborate layout such as you. My aerial is merely a straight inverted L-wire, 125ft. long and about 380ft. high, "I would be very glad to hear from you at any time ,and later on, after I have caught up on the verifying and have the March 10 programme from WBOQ verified and completed, I shall be glad to send you more complete "dope" on myself and dxing. Thanks again for the very
fihe report. Sincerely yours-

Within the last month I have received four letters from people in France, requesting exchange of postcards, etc. It appears that the names and addresses of all dxers reporting to Strasbourg, are published in the "Strasbourg Radio Journal." One letter was from a priest, and another from a school mistress, so one gets quite a variety in dxing-

VES5SW Heard in N.Z. For First Time. ONDITIONS for dxing have greatly improved this last month, Americans, Wuropeans, and Australians are coming in at excellent strength, althouzh the Chinese stations have decreased considerably during the last three weeks VK’s are getting back to their winter strength, and quite a few new ones have been heard. Some of my latest loggings are VK’s SRI, 5SL, 5WJ, 5SW, 433, 8TA, 377, 8DW, XHHG, XMHC, XQHA, VUB KIDO, on a DX programme, March 20, XELO, a new Mexican, and 2TM, Tamworth, 1500 k.c., a new Austtalian station. VK5SW stated that he has not yet received any reports from New Zealand. Loggings have been better than verifications, only 2GN and XEMO received back lately.-63S. (Invercargill). Loggings and Verifications. (CONDITION S here are steadily improving, but static, and power noises are severe at times. If these were to decrease there would be some good loggings. Some of the powerful Americans can be heard at 6 p.m,, and at 7 p.m. some of the Mexicans can be heard. Recent loggings are, WFLA, KFRU, WGN, WGBIF, WHAF, WJ%, WMC, WABO, WKY, WWJ, WDAY, and WRC: Verifications to hand lately are from, KFPY, KVOO, KTSA, KFVD, WTMJ,. WGBF, KDKA, KWJJ, KTHS, -and VK2ZF. WTOC sent some interesting information about his station, but he did not send a verification.-28W (Marton). Carry On With the Good Work. NEw ZHALAND must be the keenest DX country in the world, judging from
the reports and acknowledgements heard from Australian radio stations. % In this connection there is a rather ugly rumour abroad that Australian experimental amateur stations are not acknowledging DX reports when stamps or reply coupons are enclosed ‘to cover return postage, ‘I hope this is just an idle rumour, and not an established fact. Having no direct-evidence of DX reports being ignored by amateur stations on test transmissions, all I can say is carry on with the good work, New Zealand DX clubs.-Yours truly, Gilbert S. Hayman (Bronte, N.S.W.).
