The Moslems have issued a decree, or Gahir, upon broadcasting, throughout ‘Morocco; it begins ‘Praise to God { alone," and goes on, ‘‘Our Majesty, the ‘Shereef, has decided that radio reception must not be troubled by the workings of electrical apparatus of any description . . ."? and concludes with the signature and date, "‘At Mekmes, on the 20th Moharrem, 13853,’ which equals May 4, 1934. The N.B.C. of America is doing a serjes of "Mountain Idyll" programmes, long-distance relays from mountain peaks. The first was from Mount Rainjer in the Rocky Mountains, tlie second from the Jungfrau, a bigh peak of the Swiss Alps, including a description of ( the valleys at the foot of the mountain, a programme of native tunes sung by the Bernese Boy Singers, and vodelline by Fraulein Gritleoy Wenger. The third "broadcast is to be from the crater of Vesuvius.
