Greetings From Normandy. A® usual at this time of the year, QRN has. been very severe. It is of the crackling kind and .generally begins at ‘dusk, As a tule I never DX between
November and February, but this year I have tried the dial on different occasions to see how the overseas stations are com-~ ing in. I find they are fair, for on December 28 I heard LR5 from 4.30 to.5.45 p.m. On another evening WBT was at full volume on an all-night special, working with a power of 100 k.w. On Christmas Day I went over the dial between 6.40 and 7 p.m. and the following could be heard on the speaker: WLW, WBBM, WHAS, KTR, KEI, KGO, WCco, KHJ, KOMO, KX, KSL, KFOX, KOL, KFAC, KGER, and KGMB. There was also a station on KDKA’s frequency, but I do not think it was KDKA, XHNT was heard on his new frequency. On December 15 I received an urgent cable from London reading :-Broadeasting message to you from Normandy, Christmas Bve, 1 a.m., G.M.T." | It was, of course, impossible to hear them at that time. A special programme from this station has been arranged to take. place on March 17 next from 4.30 a.m, to. 5.30 am. Full particulars of this broadcast will be published later in this paper and in the "Radio Timés." I have received a few Huropeans back, but, as the letters are written in their respective languages, I will have to have them translated. I Enow one report was a failure-Geneva, who said it was: Moscow III I had heard. When reporting this station I overlooked the fact that Moscow was on the same frequency-

Loggings and Verifications. FARLY morning Americans have been fair lately, but the evening Americans have been very poor. Australian stations have been good, though Wastern ones have been weak, I notice that several dxers managed to log some of the stations on the "Iowa on the Air’ programme. Although I tried for all the stations, I was unsuccessful. However, I was fortunate in logging KROW, which closed at 9.3 p.m. on the same night. , My latest loggings are KELW, XHMO, "KSCJ, KROW and WBT. Verifications are slow in arriving, my latest being from KYW, KTFI (after 14 months), Moscow IV, and Bari, Italy, who enclosed a photo of their plant. : Extracis from some of the verifications are i-~ .
