New Zealand.-The Southland Branch of the I,R.S. has been formed by, Mr. James Searle, of 198 Bttrick Stfeet, Invercargill, N.Z. Mr. Searle is operator of radio station ZL4O0N. Among those already enrolled in this branch are many prominent dxers, and members are sure to have a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Mr. Leonard Johnson, ZL3HD and ZL38JQ, New Zealand representative of the I.R.S., will be pleased to hear from "members desiring to join the society. There are no charges. but those writing should remember that a stamped: and addressed envelope should be enclosed when a reply is desired. Great Britain-Many new branches have been organised within the last few months, and progress is general. The Hast Kent branch is now transmitting every evening, B.S.0., with a view of contacting overseas members. Trans-World Tests-The LR.S. trans-world tests have begun with transmissions by ZL4CE and G-2YH, Grays, Dssex. We invite all members, and others interested to take part in these tests. Our first concern: is to make contact either direct or by relay, between members in New Zealand and Great Britain -It will probably be found possible for lower-powered stations in N.Z. to be heard in England if relayed via the United States, Canada.or Africa. We -therefore give a list of transmitting stations. operated by members and we hope that each of them will co-operate ‘to the best of their ability in making these tests worth while. In New Zealand there are ZL3HD and 3JQ, operated by Mr, Leo Johnson, ZL2BA, Wellington, ZL4CH,. and ZL4GM, Invercargill, ZLAIDM, Auckland, ZL2PO, 2DD, 2LT, 2MZ, 200, 2FJ, 27X, and 2NU, all at Nelson, 8HO at Christchurch, ete: In the United States: W8BYS, Glenside, Pa. In South Africa: ZS5C, Durban, In ‘Great Britain: G6ZS, 5XM,'6HM, 5VN, all at Bolton, Lanes, 2HL, Bury, Lanes, 5JO, Cambridge, 2IA, Lanark,‘ 6JA,. Birmingham, .GI6XJ, Bangor, G2YH, Grays, Essex, 6KV, Laindon, Essex, G2IZ, 5SV, 5SI, Gravesend, Kent, ete. OZ2P, Odense, Denmark. 5LC, Hinaidi, Iraq ete. We suggest that New Zealand members call the overseas members whenever opportunity offers. If a single contact is made, tests with other members can be arranged.
