Just to show how mails can go astray, here is another instance. I heard a Buropean one night, and took down a programme and reported. Some three weeks later I heard the same station, clearer, and at much better volume, so sent another report to the same address. T received a verification from my first report, and my second was_ returned throusch the D.T..0. Can vou beat this?

Identification Wanted Station heard on 1180 k.c., at R5, QSA 2-3, on December 2 at 1.30 am- All I heard of the opening announcement was, "operating on 1130 k.c., with a power of 30,000 watts. We commence our morning’s programme with ‘Love Thy Neighbour.’" The station was an American. Also station heard on 1170 k.c., at RG, QSA3, on December 2, at 2 am. The Opening anonuncement was, ‘Cheer up, ladies and gentlemen, this music is coming to you from the studios of WOAU, Philadelphia." I held it until 2.15 a.m. They opened the programme with
eh DD "Anchors Aweigh." Was this WCAU ?- 160M.C. (Christchurch). Station on 1040 k.c., heard from 7.50 to 7.45 p.m. on Friday, December 7. The time over there was 1.50, and the announcer said that they were closing down until 6 o’clock. I do not know whether it was a.m. or p.m. Norman Baker, the cancer expert, was speaking about his cure for cancer. The announcer spoke in either Spanish or French, and then in English. Speech was very plain while audible, but. signals wavered. Thev eave their location as

XING has been yery poor lately, "old man static" being very much in evidence. Stations reported to lately are as follows: KWK, XEW, WCAU, WWL, WLW, KTAR, KDYL, KFAC, 88H, 3BA, VK2WR, VK2ME, JOGK, and J lOOK. Verifications are fr om 3SH, 3BA, 29GB, KVOO, WOWO, 3AW, 2WL, 2CA, KYW, WOC-WHO, KFOX, WBBM, KSL, KEX, and 7LA. -298W. (Marton). A Correction. Y receiver is a seven-valve commeri cial a.c. superhet, not nine-valve, as stated in last week’s "Record." I now have 28 stations verified in Japan, Siam and China, with 14 reports away. My latest verifications are XHHG (100 w.) and JOFG (300 w.).-I18GW. (Wellington). Midnight Americans Good. GTATIC has not been so severe lately and consequently the midnight Americans were heard at very good strength, At 11.50 p.m. the best were XEPN, WLW, KMOX, WWYVA, and a little later KDKA, WLS, KRLD, WJJID, KVOO, KOIL, WHO and KGNF, which makes my one hundred and fourth U.S.A. station. Verifications have been moderate, the latesc being KECA

Special DX Programme From WOWO, Indiana WOWO, Fort Wayne, Indiana, advise that they will broadcast a special DX programme for N.Z. listeners on Monday, December 31 from 11.45 p.m. to 12.15 a.m. C.S:T. This corresponds to from 5.45 p.m. till 6.15 p.m. N.Z. summer time, on Tuesday, January |. This station operates on a frequency of 1160 k.c. (258.5m.), with a power of 10 k.w.
and LS2. Brussels 1 informed me that after ehecking up my report they found that it was not theirs, but most likely ~ that of Caori, Hgypt-l157W. (Wellington). . Some VK: Information. D* here at present is very patchy, though quite a few new loggings have been made on mornings when QRN is having a rest. VIK signals are now being interfered with by American stations on their morning sessions. Chinese stations are plentiful, and a number of the weaker ones are quite easy to log if one has the patience. The. following information concerning VK’s I have recently verified will be of interest to dxers:VK8YJ is on a regular programme every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at 1.30 a.m, N.Z. summer time (frequency for December and January is 1282 ke). . VE4IN (25 w.), 1804 k.c., on Sunday morning. VK4QL (25 w.), 1450 k.c., on Monday morning. VE5MW (20 w.), 1425 k.c., Thursday and Monday mornings. VK5MD (10 w.), 1840 ke., Monday morning. ; VETRY (12 w.), 1850 k.c., Monday morning. New address: 15 Alexander Street. Burnie. VE45J3 (20 w.), 1223 ke, Sunday. morning, 1.30 till 2. VK3JB (25 w.), new address is: 75 Were Street, Brighton, $5, Vic. VK4J33’s new address is: C/o Wyper Bros., Bourbon Street, Bundaberg, Qld. New VK loggings are:-2ZX (1205 k.e.), 30B (now 1350), TBQ (1290), and 5ML (1380)-92S (Invercargill). Wellington Branch Meeting At the meeting on December 11 a fair attendance was registered, eignt members being present, namely, 157, 162, 226, 238, 240, 305, and two intending members.. It was decided not to hold a social evening this year, as most members seem to be otherwise engaged ia various outdoor sports. Members . and those interested in our meetings are here reminded that no further meetings will he held until January 8, 1935.
