N.Z. Welcomes the Duke

; = oat ~- — i — His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester obtained his first glimpse of New Zealand when the H.M.A.S Australia arrived at Wellington last Saturday. A magnificent welcome was given to the Duke, the harbour being covered with a mosquito fleet of yachts and motor-boats, while the ships of the New Zealand division of the Royal Navy acted as escort. _ The whole impressive scene on the harbour was excellently described through the New Zealand Broadcasting Board’s national stations, a commentator being stationed at a portable transmitter on the Queen Charlotte, and later the addresses of welcome were relayed, with the Duke’s reply... Listeners all over New Zealand have described this broadcast as one of the finest ever arranged by the Board, and great credit is due to the officials of 2YA whose responsibility it was to see that everything went smoothly,
