LTHOUGH the League of Nations short-wave..stations are not being heard here just at present, they are nevertheless heard in New Zealand at good regdable volume at times, and the following information may interest listeners, .
Radio Nations possesses two transmitters of 20 k.w. each. One was con--structed by. Marconi, and gives all waves ‘from 14 to 100 metres, and is stabilised by a master oscillator. The other was constructed by the Societe Francaise Radio Hlectricite,.and gives all waves from 14 to 40. metres, and is quartz controlled. Directional or omnidirectional aerials are used according to requirements, and are Marconi and Telefunken types. They are given in Wnglish, French, and Spanish. Special broadeasts are often given on other days of the week, generally about the same hour, but it is not as a rule possible to announce them long enough in advance for the information to be published in radio magazines. | The subject matter of the broadcasts consists of a bulletin of the week’s events connected with the work of the League, or a talk of some particular aspect of that work. of topical interest. Further. particulars and information on the matters dealt with may be obtained by listeners, on request. In a letter received fromthe station they state that they are always pleased to receive detailed reports and information .on their transmissions, such reports being very encouraging to them in their work. and especially so from far-away listeners. All. correspondence should be addressed -to:-Mr. G. Gallarati, Information Section, League of Nations, Geneva,
