RADIO detection finder similar in use to those now installed on ships, but utilising signals from broadcast stations instead of special impulses from private sources, has been developed in the U.S.A. for aeroplanes by the Aeronautical Branch of the Commerce Department, Tests carried out between Washington and Baltimore were completely- successful. The system is expected to find its greatest use by taxi planes not flying the established air lanes, which ave already equipped with radio beacons,
