"Helpful and Constructive" Criticism Wanted

To the Editor. Sir,I catinot réfrain from réplying to "Satisfied Listénér’s’ letter headed "Really Wonderful What Some People Growl About," which is really an attenipt to answéi a previous lettér of mite. My fiiend first of all apdlogisées. for any defieiéiicy that may have securyed through the absence of previous letters in Your doluniis from him. If this person is "a satisfied Hstener," sir, why the apology, and further, why bother to ventilate an opinién? My friend seems to forget that the Edito#s column is a medium for dnattuctive and helpful criticism, -and withont such a méatis of so‘ doing, ‘the only alternative is a léttér to the body chiefly concérned (the Broadcasting Board). One is not always éager to complain to that body, and one complaint from the Dominjon’s huge fiumber of -Listéuei's would be absolutely ineffective ; but a letter through the columns of the "Radio Record" gives other listeners an opportunity to express their feelings, and on a tnatter of importance this is mest desis‘able, ° , : "Satisfied Listener" accuses me of not entering into the spirit of the itém; nobody could enter into the .spirit of the item with greater enthusiasm than the writer, but I most strongly detest the "hosh" that is woven into the splendid musical programme rendéted by the orchestra. It pleases nie to notice that I have two supporters in regard to this subject, and I feel gure there are thousands more, ff only: they would go to the trouble to ‘record thei feelings. I sincerely hope that my letter will bring about some ‘change in ‘the present "old-time" dance programme, broadtast from. SYA, and I

congratulate "Champion" and "First Complaint" on coming forward and airiig theiy views in au intelligent mayner-I
