Radio Round the World
OLLOWING the principle adopted in neighbouring countries, Yugoslavia has decreed that no foreign artists are to be engaged to perform either at theatres, concert halls or broadcasting studios. Exception is made in the case of artists with worldwide fame, for which special authority will have to be obtained. u uy i ORWAY has been granted an exclusive channel in the long-wave band by the new Lucerne Plan, but she will not be allowed to increase the energy radiated. This favourable position was conceded in consideration of an undertaking to reduce radiation in a south-easterly direction in order to avoid any chance of interference with Denmark and neighbouring countries. Ld 2 2 ALTHOUGH no official figures have yet been published, it is understood that over 600,000 listeners have registered themselves for the purpose of the new French wireless tax in the departments of Seine and Seine et Oise alone. This, of course, is the most populous area, including as it does the city of Paris, but all estimates that are being made exceed 2,000,000 listeners for the whole of France (excluding pirates).
