Five important stations have asked the Federal Radio Commission for licenscs to use power up to 50,000 watts. These stations are WGN, Chicago; WBX, Boston; WBAL, Baltimore; WHAM, Rochester, N.Y. Each of these five stations operates on a clear channel, but as present regulations prescribe that only twenty of the forty clear channels available shall be empowered to use the maximum, the twenty authorisations have already been issued. ‘The new requests are in the nature of a plea to amend the rule.
