Music Lovers' Competitions

First. Series Next Week HE first of the series of MusicLevers’ Competitions arranged by the "Radio Record" with the Broadcasting Board, will be broadcast next week, commencing on Monday, March 27, at 4YA, Dunedin, at 7.30 pm. The competitions from 1YA, 2YA, and 3YA will be broadcast on Tuesday. Wednhesday, and Thursday of next week, or the benefit of those who may not have read, or heard, of the particulars relating to the competitions, the following details are published :- Commencing during the last week in March, a series of Music Lovers’ Comnetitions will be featured by the

"Radio Record" from the Broadcasting Board’s stations, and will extend over 2 period of eight weeks. On one evening of each week between 7,30 and 8 p.m., portions of ten selections will be broadcast by means of recordings and by pianists at the studios, Bach selection will be played for approximately one minute. and , will be followed by an interval of one minute, during which listeners who are taking part in the competition will be given ie opportunity of taxing their memores. There will be a separate competition at each station, and they will be broadeast on the following days :- 1VYA-Each Tuesday, commencing March 28. 2YA-Each Wednesday, commencing March 29. 3YA.-Each Thursday, ecommencing March 30. 4YA.-Each Monday. commencing March 27. Owing to the fact that Tuesday, April 25, is Anzac Day, it is not proposed to conduct the competition on this evening, and the competition from 1¥A will accordingly be extended one week. _ Cash prizes, as under. will be awarded by the "Radio Record": First prize, £5; second prize, £2; third prize, 10/-. making a total of £30 in cash prizes. In broadcasting the competitions, each item will be preceded by an announcement giving its number on the programme, and those taking part in the competition will simply write down the number and the title which they consider to be correct. Though the competition at each station will be. quite distinct, there is nothing to prevent any listener entering for all four competitions. Entries may be on plain paper, and should not be sent in until the conclusion of the whole series, which will comprise eight programmes at each station. The call sign of the station and date on which the programme was broadcast should be clearly noted at the top of each list, together with the competitor’s name and, address. Entries should then be mailed to: "The Editor, N.Z. Radio Record, P.O. Box 1032, Wellington," and should be marked "Competition" in the upper left-hand corner.
