A resolution by Newcastle United, one of the premier elubs, that the question of broadcasting games be left to the discretion of individual clubs was defeated by a large majority when the League directorate met recently in London. 8 @ * [HE Khedival Government has granted a concession to a broadcasting company, authorising it to elect and operate a radio-telephony transmitter. It is proposed to relay from important foreign stations and re-broadeast them for the benefit of Egyptian subscribers. At Port Said a radio-club already has @ 500 watt station working on a rather limited schedule. » * me @ T would appear that the recent exchange: of programmes between England and America cultivated a taste for the British type in the U.S.A Both the National and the Columbja chains regularly tap 58W during sus: taining portions of the programmes when no sponsors are broadcasting. American programmes have a very lime ited appeal in Britain.
