Identification Wanted Foreign station on approx. 770 k.e. (389.4 m.) heard from 2 a.m. on July 26 and August 9. One. item heard on both occasions was "Yes, Sir, That’s My ‘ Baby Now." Announcements. are foreign, but music-is a mixture of English and foreign.-26HB. (Napier). Station on 680 k.c, (441 m.), heard at R8 on August 16 at 11.80 p.m. "Oldfashioned Baby," a foxtrot; was heard, followed by Japanese musie and then a man speaking iin broken Wnglish. Was JOHK testing at 4.80 a.m. on August 14? Several vocal items with weird characteristically Japanese. orchestral accompaniment were heard. Hach was followed by a long interval of 10 minutes. No announcements were made.-Radio" (Wellington). American heard nearly every evening until 10 p.m. on. JOHK’s frequency. A strong continuous ripple is always pres-ent.-138W (Wellington). ; Foreigner heard on a recent Sunday morning at 3 a.m, on approximately 770 k.c. (389 m.). Lady was singing in a foreign language, Also station on approximately 620 k.c, (484 m.) heard from 1,15 to 2 a.m. when-he closed. . down, announced giving. the time as 10.30 , pm. He, mentioned radio several times fand a foreign syren was heard twice. The call sounded like "KDIM." An- ‘ other station on approximately 882 k.c.. (840 m.) was heard ‘on orchestral numbers at. 1.80 a.m. Also a station heard at 2.a.m. on August 14 on approximately 690 k,c. (484 m.) giving: the results of the. afternoon races, with dividends in English money. He then returned: to ‘the studio, where orchestral numbers

disastrous fire raging there. -.[Approximate frequency ?-Ed.] Apparently most of the.town was burnt out. Previously a lady was heard describing the motor-

DX Topics : 8ZE’s Schedule. ON a card recently received from 3ZE, Greymouth, the operator states that 8ZE will not be operating on Monday or Wednesday. now. 8YB, Melbourne, is now operating on 283 m. (1060 k.e.). Latest verifications are: 3YB; 8GL, Geelong; 2GN, Goulburn; and 4ZR, Balelutha. The last-named is now using 74 watts. All these stations replied by return mail. 38YB mentioned that the dx. paper is the best he has seen yet.-"Radio" (Wellington). Broadcast Acknowledgment of Reports. EXTRACT from letter received from 8TR, Sale: "Every Thursday night from 10-10.15 p.m., E. Australian time, 3TR will reply to letters and reports from your Dominion." Re inquiry by 91W: I received a card from 4ZR on July 28, and power given is 6 watts.T6W (Petone), Reports Invited. L Ast Sunday, August 14, TUB, Ulverstone, Tasmania, invited DX Club listeners to send in reports on their transmissions. They will be promptly verifiedy Some New Zealand listeners were mentioned, Power used is 200 watts-39MC (Kaikoura). Unfavourable Conditions. XING has been very poor here lately. Reception from 2ZR, Nelson, is very poor here at night, although we are only 30 miles away. In the daytime reception is very clear and at almost R9, but at nights it is distorted, fading badly between R1 and R7. At the same time we receive KFI at. R8.1INW (Thorpe). ;
American Schedules. A LETTER recently received from an American dxer gives the following schedules :-- WEAF; 6.45 a.m.-1 am., B.D.S8.7T. WABC and WJZ: 7.80 a.m.-2 a.m., E.D.S.T. KGU: 6.45 a.m.-11 p.m., P.S.T. KERN: 7,30 am.-12 pm. P.S.T, daily; 8 a.m.-11 p.m. P.S.T., Sunday. He has 585 stations logged, with 84 verified, and is only 16 years old-141A (Auckland). DX Jottings, ; (CONDITIONS have been almost perfect for dxing during the past five weeks. All overseas stations are coming in well, the best Americans being KMOX, XBR, KFI, and KOA. Lately I logged WTIC and two Chinese stations, XGY and one on approx. 320 metres I take to be XOPP. Verifications are coming in slowly. Among the latest are Brussels aud Prague. WPG, Atlantic City, and XBR and XEF. I have now verifications from
