Spain's New Short-wave Station
A view of the building, in the centre of Madrid, in which are installed the studios and offices of EAQ, Spain’s new 20 kilowatt Beam type shortwave station. The transmitter, which is situated in Aranjuez, on the outskirts of the city, is linked with the studios by special distortionless landlines.. By arrangement with the New Zealand Shortwave Club, EAQ will broadcast a special programme for listeners in this country, on 30.40 metres, from 12.0 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. (N.Z. time) on August 25,
The principal object of "Radiodifusion Ibero-Amer-icana," the department controlling EAQ, is to convey to other lands some idea of the artistic and intellectual life of Spain, and for this purpose arrangements have been made for notable specialists to broadcast. Musical programmes are chosen from the masters, preference naturally being given to the artistic treasures which abound in Spain. .
