1ZR Notes "THE announcer told this one on himself the other evening at 1ZR. Being an amateur conductor of a choir which was under rehearsal, the tempo was somewhat erratic. Stopping the choir, he intended to demand stricter attention to the beat, but instead, shouted. "Watch the time." A lusty -bass responded, after fumbling with his watch, "A quarter past nine, sir!" NOTHER conductor-this one on a city tram-caused a little flutter of excitement to the announcer’s wife on the same day. When he arrived to collect the fare, a good three-section ticket was handed to him, with "How do you do." Snip, snip, went the punch or scissors. He thought she said "Take for two." Moral: Conductors. mean well, but-beware. 4@
