Town Planning Talks
Arranged. from 3YA_ UNDER the auspices of the TownPlanning Institute of New Zealand (Incorporated), a series of talks dealing with the history of town-planning from ancient times down to the present day. will be delivered from station 8YA, Christchurch, -at 7.45 p.m. on the following dates :- Saturday, July 9-"What is TownPlanning?" "History of Town-Plan-ning," EB. F. Scott.
. ‘ * Saturday, July 23-‘Town-Planning Scheme," A. H. Bridge. Saturday, July 80, August. 6--"Zoning" (two talks), A. H. Bridge. Saturday, August 13-‘"Economic ‘Aspéct," BE. F. Scott. Saturday, . August 20-"‘Amenities," A. H. Bridge. Saturday, August 27-"Town-Plan-ning Institute," EB. F. Scott. The procedure in preparing'a townplanning scheme will be explained, to be followed by two talks on zoning, or the establishment of districts: in a city for specific land uses. The importance of the economic aspect will be dwelt upon, as also that of the amenities such as parks, gardens, recreation ‘grounds.and control of hoardings, etc. Finally, the’ aims and objects of the institute will be set forth, showing how those who support town-planning may. assist. \
