. Orpheus Musical Club. TPE: ‘Orpheus Musical Club will be on the ‘air from 1YA on Thursday, the vocalists being Mrs. L. HE. Lambert, contralto, and Frank Sutherland, baritone. The 1YA Studio Orchestra will assist, playing several numbers, including the "Indian Love Lyrics" and "Iolanthe" selection, Will Henderson will be heard in a flute solo, and there will be an instrumental’ trio’ for flute, violin, and piano. Radio Play. 4 eet whole of the second portion of ' 2YA’s programme on Thursday will pe devoted toa radio play "The Flowers Are Not for You to Pick," produced by Victor S. Lloyd. Those who have listened to Victor Lloyd’s productions in the past will look forward to this evening. Mr. Lloyd chooses his characters well, and the plays are always well done and hold the interest up to the very last. Dunedin Symphony Orchestra. ON Wednesday next, the first concert of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra. under the conductorship of B. L. H. de Rose, will be broadcast on relay from the Dunedin Town Hall. Among the numbers to be played by the orchestra will be "Marche MHeroique" (Saint Saens), and a fantasia from ‘"Mephistopheles," by Boito. Assisting vocalists 4nclude James McDonald and Lillian McDonald. "The Bohemian Girl." "THE first portion of the concert from 4YA on Friday will comprise execerpts from the "Bohemian Girl" (Balfe), presented by the Minnesingers. Notes on the Programmes PROBABLY the most outstanding number on the recorded programme from 1YA on Tuesday next will be
excerpts from "Sonata in C Minor," by Grieg, played by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Fritz Kreisler. ‘ THE Viennese Trio, comprising violin, *eello, and harp, will appear for the first time on 1YA’s programme on Wednesday, when they will present trios ' and solos for their respective instruments. ROM 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. on Friday, 1YA will relay the Community Singing from the Lewis Hady Hall. N outstanding number on the programme of 1YA on Friday will be a duet for flute and horn entitled "Serenade," to be played by V. Cater and H. Benn. A E. WILSON will give a further * twenty minutes’ organ recital from the Baptist Tabernacle from 1YA on Friday. His numbers will be made especially interesting by short annotations.
(GZ WLADYS EDWARDES, soprano, and Barry Coney, baritone, two of the most outstanding vocalists in New Zealand, will be heard on 1YA’s programme on Sunday night. "Yi UsicaL Shows of :Yester-Year" will be the title of a gramophone jecture-recital to be given by Karl Atkinson from 2YA on Tuesday. ‘THE Isett novelty instrumental trio will play a number of popular melodies on the evening’s programme from 2YA on Thursday. WIL BISHOP, the popular entertainer, will be featured on 2YA’s programme on Saturday in entertainment at the piano.
