The announcer of 2 certain Dunedin SB" class station; whose geography was apparently rather hazy , annorncing a recording of the Missouri Waltz said: We are mOW to hear the SMissisouri" Waltz ! The same gentle- man evidently believed in phonetic spelling (of 2 sort) a5 shortly aftert wards he announced selections from SThe Belly (Belle) of New York' ! K tuned in the same station next day in the hope of hearing further gems, hut record after record Izs played without auy announcement at all: Perhaps the management decided that after the previous day's experi- ence discretion would be the hetter part of (linguistic) valour , for M 9} timne at anY rate.
