Wellington Jottings {JN the evening at 7.40 Mr. A. Quinnell , Will continue his series of lecturettes .o2 "Star Myths of the Zodiac." A versatile quartet, known as the Versatility Singers, will contribute the vocal portion of the musical programme. They will be heard in three recitals of varied type. The first will consist of songs by Mendelssohn, comprising some of the sweetest melodies by this great composer. The second recital will be of & much lighter nature. The third series will be devoted to old favour-ites-such numbers as "Sweet and Low," "Seventeen Come Sunday," "Silent, Oh Moyle," and "fhe Long Day Closes." : The evening’s programme will also include a two piano piece played by Miss G. Carty and Gordon Short, and a MJfuy de Maupassant story read by
Christchurch Notes HE Rev. Hubert Jones, Mus, Bach., gives the third of his series of W.ELA. "music" talks. , The Woolston Band, under Mr. R, J. Estall, will provide an evening programme, _ Further instrumental numbers will be provided by a string trio, the Melody Trio. Dunedin J ottings HE 4YA Music Lovers’ Competition closes this evening. Recordings have been, selected to provide a popular concert. Quartets will
be sung by the Big Four, the Shannon Quartet will be heard in "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny," and the Peerless Quartet will sing Roeltger’s "‘GoodNight." There will be some John Henry humour and a novelty number by Des Tooley, while further novelty will be found in the recordings, ‘"‘Daybreak at a Surrey Farm" and "In a Village Churehyard," introducing birds, bees and animals.
