DX Topics DX Notes. ECHPTION has improved considerably in Auckland the last few weeks. The Americans are beginning io come over with good _ strength. WABC, WEAF, and WJZ,.have been consistently heard at R4, KDKA, Pittsburg, at 4.35 ee on April 23, in bright sunlight, was Latest loggings are WHAS, KLUX, KFPY, KFAC, COMK, COHB, 42F, °7B, 3AK, 6PR, VK38CB, and 5PI. The latter station was heterodyning with 2CA, Canberra, but I managed to identify quite « few items. In a verification from 4f0, Townsville, just received, they gay that my report is the best detailed one yet received from N.Z. I can sympathise with fellow-dxers who complain of black-listed stations. Despite the fact that I give full detailed reports, with a
stamped addressed envelope enciosed, tne following stations have not replied: 47L, BHA, 3BA, 8WR, 5DN, XEW, WGN, KGU, KEX, and KTM. It is also two months since I sent to 28M and IGN, but have not a verification to date. I have written three times to KTM, and the last time I enclosed a 10 cent coupon, but even this has been ignored. T have not seen any reports of KFI’s birthday programme. [See last week’s "Topics."-Ed.] In my _ locality _ this came over from 5 p.m. at R9. and the reception of Abe Hyman’s Band from New York was magnificent. (This was re layed through KII.) When one listens to the "Drift Back to Dreamland" organ programme from KYI at 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., Sunday, N.Z. time, it makes one realise that the American announcers know just how to appeal to the imagination of their listeners-there is no monotony here--DX182 (Auckland). Police Station Again Heard. RECEPTION has improved wonderfulv ly, except for troublesome static and surging, and the Americans can be picked up at 83.15 p.m. WOAI, KMOX, WENR, KSTP, WHAP, KGHR, KG4, WABC, have heén coming in well, and can be
bey picked up at 3.50 p.m. at good strength, increasing considerably later. 2FO can be picked up at 9 a.m. and 12.80 p.m. Station heterodyning 1YA is KHJ; 1ZR is KMOX. Has anyone picked up station 1 deg. above ZL2AH, giving description of missing people and lawbreakers? { presume this station to be eonnected with the police authorities, I have picked him up on four occasions. On April 6, at 5.50 p.m., this station came in well, but owing to the surging was unable to
get his call when closing down. 2M ean be picked up almost any evening at 6.30 p.m., working on 198 metres, If you want to hear reply to 2MQ, wait till OME eall "Over, over," then turn dial to approximately WDAG’s wavelength and you will hear reply, which I presume to be a ship at sea, with the call VINL-DXI3iA. RECENT verifications include KDYL, KEX, KOY and KSO. Particulars of the last-named station are: Frequency 1880 k.c. (217 m.), power 500 watts. They stated: "If any member of the New Zealand DX Club at any time in the future should tune in KSO, don’t fail to send us a report of the reception. I can personally guarantee that every such report will be verified by the engineering department if found to be cor-
rect. Other stations owned by this company or a subsidiary are: WIAS, Ottumwa, Iowa, 1420 kc. (211 m. 5, and KWCR, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 1810 k.e. (229 m. .
