Music Lovers' Competition
Sending in Entries
WITH the broadcast of the final series of selections in the Music Lovers’ Competition by 1LYA, 2YA and 3YA this week and 4YA on Monday, May 16, there closes one of the many interesting innovations which have marked broadcasting this year. This competition-or four competitions, for there has been one from each station-has been running for ten weeks, and has aroused very great interest. Apart from the actual competition, a feast of music has been provided and proved an entertainment in itself. The competition had its genesis in correspondence by listeners to the "Radio Record" and the Broadcasting Board readily agreed to accord full co-operation in putting the proposal into effect. Each of the four competitions carries three cash prizes of £5, £2 and 10/- respectively, with other valuable prizes donated by the radio dealers of Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin. It is not to be expected that any listeners will be able to name all the items correctly and listeners need not be discouraged if they have been unable to do so. The prizes will be awarded to the listeners who have been able to identify the most selections, and it behoves all listeners to send in their answers, no matter how small the number of titles may seem. All replies should be sent in without delay. The lists of titles should be set out under the call sign of the station and the dates of the broadcasts. The envelopes should be addressed: The Editor, "Radio Record," P.O. Box 1032, Wellington, and the envelopes shouid be endorsed, "Competition" in the top left-hand corner.
