Growth of British Industry
ps Britain the wireless industry has reached a turnover of £30,000,000 a year, says the "Daily Mail." It is second only to the motor industry in rapidity of development. Phere were 67.418 wireless licenses issued last March, and the total in existence is now: more than 4,500,000. ‘Factories have been.enlarged and are working with full staffs. Last year 1,250,000 wireless sets were sold and manufacturers expect to sell 2,000,000 this yeur. In the House of Commons the Dominions Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, said the Government was taking no steps to include Empire broadcasting facilities in the agenda of the Empire Economic. Conference at Ottawa and would not include a wireless expert in the British delegation. However, the Government would support any suggestion tending toward further co-opera-tion on the lines advocated at-the last Imperial Conference. which recommended reciprocal Empire programmes.
