Auckland Jottings Once again 1YA listeners will welcome that prince of comedians, Phil Smith, who will be heard in several numbers from his repertoire. Mr. ©. W. Bruce, with his piano accordeon, is making his debut before the microphone. Welington Notes THE W.H.A. speaker will be Mr. R. J. Waghorn, M.A., his theme being "The Harth and Man-Discovering the Barth and Its Riches." A concert by the Wellington Apolio Singers, under Mr. H. Temple White, will be relayed from the Wellington Town Hall. The aecompanist will be Mr. Ernest Jenner, A.R.A.M. Choruses and part-song singing will be a particularly attractive feature. One of the numbers will be "Sumer is Ieumin In," which is 700 years old. This number is unique, inasmuch as it is recognised as the first piece of
truly English music to be handed down to us after the Norman Conquest. it is confidently ascribed to a monk of Reading .Abbey---John Fornsete--whose period was about 1240. Christchurch Notes R® HARRISON, baritone, to be heard in a recital of four songs, will be the outstanding performer on 8YA’s programme, A vaudeville turn will be given by the Radio Rascal and his Rascalette.
