1YA Programme "THE midday service for businessmen will be relayed from St. Matthew's Church. On the eyening’s concert programme, the Broadcasting Choir will make its first appearance this yeur, singing a number of part-songs, inchuding old English folk songs. To be heard in instrumental items and vocal solos on this programme will be Ida Moore (mezzo-contralto), Misses Marriage and Foster (in solos and duets), Cyril Towsey (pianist), and the Northern String Quartet. Two comedy sketches will also be presented by members of the choir. Jottings from Wellington NAHE programme will be contributed mainly by the Port Nicholson Silver Band under Mr. J. J. Drew. The numbers to be played will include the march "Punchenelle." the *‘Tancredi"’ Overture. "Gems from Sullivan's Operas," the "Glow Worm" intermezzo, and the march "Dunedin." Some of the latest airs will be played by a guitar duo, Messrs. Berthold and Sullivan. Old-time songs and a comedy sketch will be among the recordings, Notes from Christchurch A PROGRAMME of recordings ‘s schedwed. The selection will comprise items which will please all classes of listepers. The opening number will be Begthoven’s famous "Battle Sym-
phony," so rarely heard. It is played by the Berlin State Opera House Syinphony Orchestra. At 9 o’clock a talk will be contributed by Mr. J. E. Strachan, M.A.. B.Se, headmaster at Rangiora, on "Storm Clouds in the Bast." Mr. Strachan has recently returned from an extensive tour of the Bast-China, Manchuria, Japan, Korea. While there he made an intensive study of conditions in those parts.
