Log for Week Ending January 2
RECEPTION during the past week was similar to the week before, so I‘will not detail all the stations. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings a Japanese station on about 30.4 metres came in like a local with native music and talk-plenty of the latter. On Wednesday, talk was on from 9.30 p.m. till 10.30 p.m., and still going strong. No sign of a call eould be heard, but it was probably JIAA,. as they have been experimenting on different. wavelengths. WIXAZ was. heard on Wednesday morning at R5-6 from 7.45 to 8 a.m. The next day they were R2 at the same time. It is unusual to hear this station at this time. G5SW was tried at 12.30 a.m. Friday morning (Thursday midnight). They were R7 with the usual rapid fade, but not quite so bad as sometimes. GHSW now commence their
evening session at 6.45 p.m. (6.45 a.m. here), but reception is very poor. W2XAF reached readable volume earlier than usual on Friday, being R7-8 by 2.45 p.m., but did not increase to any extent till near 4 p.m., when they were up to R9. This volume remained steady for about an hour. dropping to R8-9 by 6.30 p.m. WS8XAL, on the same day, Januar) 1, was only R8 at 5.30 p.m., reaching R8-9 by 6.45 p.m., remaining at this
volume till they went off the air soon after 10.30 p.m. Generally, reception from W38XAL was quite good, but the noise level was very high at times.
