larly in regard to the licensing and regulation aspects of the service. Int addition, to facilitate the inception of the Board’s regime, a certain a of preliminary organisation has been undertaken by him and other departmental officers. Mr. Vickery in his statement remarked that the Postmaster-General had indicated his intention of assisting the Board in every possible way during its first few difficult months. In addition to the service of Mr. Hands, other officers of the Post and Telegraph Department would be placed at the disposal of the Board when required. Mr. Vickery indicated that the appoint ment of the Board so close to the holidays had made matters a little difficult, but with the goodwill and co-operation of the Hon. A. Hamilton (Postmaster General) and his department, listeners could be assured that a smooth sen vice would operate throughout January. Mr. BE. C. Hands has been in the service of the Post and Telegraph Department for approximately 22 years. Prior to joining the Department he had seven years’ experience with the Pacific Cable Board. Before 1928 he filled the position of Supervisor of thd Telegraph Office in Wellington. For the past two years Mr. Hands has been Principal of the Telegraph Division, G.P.O., and in that capacity maintained close touch with various phases of broadcasting.
