Radio License Renewals

March Totals Now Exceeded A RETURN has been received from the Post and Telegraph Department indicating that the number of licensed listeners is now 64,927, representing an increase of approximately 600 on the figures obtaining on March 31 this year, when the renewals fell due. Thus, it has taken five months to pick up the leeway. It is interesting to note that the receiving licenses are almost 1000 in excess of what they were five months ago. The dealers are down 400, the transmitters up 40, and the "free" down about 30. The position, as far as dealers are concerned, indicates that radio as a trade is now settling down to a solid basis, and many who thought there was easy money in radio are dropping out, leaving a smaller number of competent traders. The following are the detailed gures:-
