From Auckland "THE weekly sports talk will be given at 7.40 p.m. Miss Valerie Peacocke, a very talented’ soprano, will be making her first appearance before the microphone at 1YA, singing a number of ballads, while Mr. Albert Gibbons Taylor, already popular with listeners, will render a number of songs that were well known years ago. Banjo solos will be, contributed by Mr. G. Cornes, and there will be orchestral music by the Salon Orchestra, under Mr. Harold Baxter. THE weekly lecturette on "Fashions" will be delivered. Variety will be the keynote in 2YA’s studio programme. The Orchestrina Will play the overture, "The Bronze Horse," and the selections, "The Gondoliers" and "Poppy." Miss Gwladys Edwardes, soprano, will sing "Nightfall at Sea," "If We Sailed Away," "Love was. Meant to Make Us Glad," and "When Soft Music Dies.". Mrs. Mildred Kenny’s mandolin orchestra will be heard in a. budget of up-to-date melodies. A feature of the evening’s programme will be a one-act play written and produced by Mr. Victor S. Lloyd, entitled "Squaring the Triangle," and a comedy sketch, "Snails," also written by Mr. Lloyd. There will be dance music from 9.30 till 11 p.m. From 3YA HE "Radio Service" dialogue will be given by Messrs. D. Cossgrove and W. Melbourne. The miscellaneons evening programme will be contributed by the Melodious Quartet, the Synecopators (pinno and violin novelties), Mr. J. P. Darragh (humorist), Mr. Norman Goffin (cornetist), and the Studio Octet. under Mr. Harold Beck, Dunedin Notes NUMBER of well-known 4YA artists will contribute to this evening’s variety programme. During the evening a lecture-recital ly "Tr John T. Leech on "Songs and Legends of India" will be given.
