1YA On the Air Is wrestling match, Lurich v. a buresch, will be broadcast by Items from 2YA HE "Musical Portrait" this evening will be in the capable hands of George Ellwood, ’cellist, who will broadcast a ’eello recital, "Lighter Moods of Classical Composers." His programme will include gems by Dvorak, Elgar, Van Goens, Popper and Fischer. Hilda Chudley, contralto, will! sing delightful numbers by Cyril Scott, Armstrong Gibbs and Roger Quilter. Mary McKeowen, mezzo-soprano, will
be heard in ballads. D. L. Irwin,.a fine lyric tenor, will make his first appearance at 2YA. Sydney Francis Hoben, pianist, will give a lecture-recital entitled "Glimpses of Modern Composers," and will include numbers by Debussy, Paderewski and Paladihle. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play SBoccherini’s "Celebrated Minuet,’ Schumann’s "Reverie" and one of Chopin’s waltzes.
Christchurch Topics A "RANGIORA NIGHT" will be featured. A concert party of the leading vocal talent of the town, an Hawaiian orchestra and a first-class brass band will broadcast a concert in the studio. During the evening Mr. W. A. Rowse, Mayor of Rangiora, will talk on "Town Life in the Country." Selections from Dunedin "HH interesting and instructive talks which are being presented by Mr. John Bowie from time to time will conclude this evening. The speaker for the international programme will be Mr. Elwood, secretary of the Otago Importers and Shippers’ Association. He will speak on "The Development of International Trading at Sea."
