Radiophone Conversation

Java and Australia ‘HE distinction of having the first radiophone conversation between Java and Australia fell to Mr. L. J. Schmitt, New Zealand Trade and Tourist Commissioner in Australia, who is now visiting the Hast on a mission for the Dominion Government, and Mr. R. W. Blow, acting-New Zealand Commissioner, residing in Sydney. ‘The conversation took place recently at 10 o’clock, Sydney time, and was a splendid success, Mr, Schmitt informed Mr. Blow that the Dutch Government was treating him admirably, and affording him every facility for the adequate fulfilment of his mission. He introduced a leading Dutch official to Mr. Blow by radiophone, Mr. Schmitt concluded by expressing his highest admiration of the efficiency of the various public utilities of Java.
