2YA Features ‘THE lecturers from 2Y¥A will be:At 11.12 a.m., Miss Christian, on "Cooking" ; at 11.87, a representative ai. the Red Cross’ Society. The "Musical Portrait": to-night will. be of the composer Brahms, I¢ has been specially chosen in order. te show that Brahms can be as: melodious, as easily understood, and . as much enjoyed as the less severe composers. Mrs. Wilfred Andrews . ‘(contralto) will sing some of his sweetest songs. A _ selection of Brahms’ waltzes, which he wrote te . eapteve an accusation that he could not write as tunefully as Schubert, will be played as duets by Miss Nora Gray and Mr. Gordon Short. Mr. Short will also play some of Brahms’ more characteristic work. With Mrs. Amy Woodward, Mrs. Wilfred Andrews will sing two duets, and as 2 solo the old favourite, "The Sands o’ Dee." Mrs, Amy Woodward’s solos will include songs by Sterndale Bennett, Dr. Arne and Bishop, besides the delightful "Laughing Song" (by Auber). Songs by Mr. Arthur Clark (tenor) will include Rimsky-Korsakoff’s "Hindoo Song." The Orchestrina will play some fine works. A session of dance musie will follow. :

3YA Notes (THERE will be two talks from 3YA. In dialogue form, Messrs. HE. B. Wiltshire and F. C. Fairclough will tell "The Story of the Garden"; Mr. B. W. Saxton, F.0.S., will give a talk on "Wilk, " The Christchurch. ‘Municipal. Band (Conductor Mr. J. Noble) and assist-

ing artists will give a well-arranged programme in the evening. The band items will include a selection of English airs arranged by Ord Hume and a minuet, Handel’s "Ode to St. Cecelia’s Songs." As a cornet solo, "Lead Kindly Light" will be played. Dunedin Notes ANOTHER of the interesting talks on "Barly Otago" by Mr. John Bowie will be broadcast at 7.30 p.m. Mr. J. Crossley Clitheroe, Lecturer on Musie at the Dunedin Training College, will be the lecturer during the international programme at 4YA. His subject will be "The International Kinship of Music."
