Auckland Notes A MISCELLANEOUS programme, full of interest, is promised by 1YA. The Civic Novelty Trio. (consisting of piano, violin, marimba, and saxophone) will be heard in several nuinbers, and Mr. Simon Philipoff, who is recognised as a first-class artist on the balalaika, will be heard. in "Qaprice Viennois," "Caprice," and "Variation from ‘Corelli." Hlocutionary numbers by Mr. J. M. Clark will be Shakespeare’s "Mark Anthony’s Oration over the body of Ceasar," and "The Story of the Old Ram" (by Mark Twain). Vocal items, two of them being negro spirituals, will be heard from Miss Dorothy Lovelace Milne (soprano). Mr. Victor Baxter (bassbaritone) will sing among other songs, "The Two Grenadiers" and "Song of the Volga Boatmen." Mr. Cyril Towsey, studio pianist, will play "Prelude in D Flat" (Raindrop) and "Ballade in Wellington Features — At 7.40 p.m. there will be a talk by Mr. A. B. Wilson on "Tourist and Holiday Resorts." The Orchestrina, under Signor A, P. Truda, will be heard in the overture, "Mayday" (by Wood), a_ selection, "Gipsy Princess" (by Kalman), and a fantasia, "Faust Frivolities," "La Gazelle," a valse, "Pluie D’Or,"’. and the foxtrot, "Polly." Dorrie and Laurie, a novelty dug, not previously heard from 2YA, will amuse listeners with patter and song. Cossgrove and W. Melbourne, will be given this evening. A popular programme will be presented immediately following. Humorous items will be’ given by Mr. Geo. Titchener, and piano solos by Miss Aileen Warren. Cabaret songs, to improvised accompaaiments, will be presented by Messrs. Albert Carlisle and Les Grummitt. Instrumental items will be provided by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. From 4 YA A lecture recital on "Favourite National Songs, their History and Origin" will be given by Mr. John Leech and his company of artists. Songs characteristic of all the principal countries in the world will be sung. Explanatory remarks will be given by Mr. Leech.
