_ Auckland Features YA .will not observe a silent day. -In the afternoon, the results of the events at the Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting will be broadcast.

A very fine holiday programme hai been arranged for the evening session. Gordon Cole and his Civie Wintergarden Orchestra,.2 combination of players which has delighted thousands of people in the last few months, has been engaged for the evening, and they will play many popular numbers. . The Asquiths will give another of their twenty-minute drawing-room entertainments, while Miss Dorothea Ryan will be heard in a group of piano solos. Mr. J. Ainsley Daglish, who has quickly come to the foré ag a tenor soloist, will be heard on this programme. Dance music will continue until 11 p.m.

From ‘Wellington A SEED specialist from Hngland, Mr. Walter F. Giles, A.H.R.H.S., will speak at 7.40 on "Plant Breeding and Seed Production in England." A programme, which will be a treat for all music-lovers has been arranged for this evening. Mr. Harison Cook, the eminent Wellington bass, has’ been engaged for a recital, Miss Christina Young, a talented and. artistic singer, will also appear on the programme, singing solos, and, in company with Mr. ’ Harison Cook, taking part in duets. Mr. Cook’s numbers will comprise solos from "Tl Seraglio" and "Faust," "O’er the Moor" (an old Highland love song), "The Leader of the Town Brass Band," and "The Arguing Wife." To several of these songs, as well as to the duets, there will be orchestral accompaniment. "I Crave to Satisfy my Hate" (from "Samson and Delilah") and Newton’s "Underneath the Trees" will be the duets. A violin obbligato will be played to two of Miss Young’s solos. Of exceptional merit, in keeping with the vocal numbers, will be the instrumental side of the programme. Two Schubert. numbers will be played by Mr Gordon Short. Rossini, Schubert, Verdi, Brahms, Pierne, and Waldteufel will be represented in the programme by the orchestrina. Christchurch Notes RAcH results from the. Canterbury ™ Jockey Club’s meeting will be broadcast during the afternoon. At 7.30 p.m, Mr. N. M. Bell, M.A., will speak on "Esperanto." . For 8YA’s band concert, Derry’s Military Band has been engaged,.and a miscellaneous programme will be presented. Piano novelties will be contributed by Miss Maisie Ottey, whose items will be entirely new to listeners. Dunedin Features PURING the afternoon, 4YA will relay the results of the New Zealand inter-’varsity tournament and the South Island tennis championships, which are to be held in Dunedin. A novelty orchestra, playing the latest popular numbers, will be represented on the evening programme, As a violin solo, Miss Eva Judd will play "The Old Folks at Home"; a novelty item, "Slippin’," will be played, by Mr. J. McCaw (clarinetist); and Miss Rita Holmes, a very popular. entertainer at the piano, will present. three of the latest song hits , from sound pictures.
