\ Impending Broadcasts
‘A SAXOPHONE band of about 20 players, formed and trained by Mr. Harry Glaysher, the well-known harpist of 3YA, will shortly be heard "on the air." The Cottage Scene from "The Lady of Lyons’ is to be produced at 3YA on Friday, May 1, by Mr: H. L. Shaw, Miss Naire and Miss Daisy Armstrong. A performance of . Wagner’s "Tannhauser," to be produced in the Civic Theatre by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society on April 29, is to’ be broadeast by. 3YA. A series of talks by the Sunlight Health League will shortly be giver at 8YA, Y Mr. Karl Atkinson, ‘well known to’ 1YA listeners for his lecture-recitals on gramophone. recordings and who is now on the head office staff of the Broadeasting Company at Christchurch, will be heard from 3YA on Friday, May 1. The theme of his talk will be "The.Lure of the Waltz." Professor Zimmerman, who recently delighted SYA listeners on his first appearance at the Christchurch station as a violinist, is to give another recital on April 30. His items will have orchestral accompaniment. The next lecturette by Mr. Te’ Ari Pitama at 3YA' will be on "My People." The Bailey-Marston Dance Orchestra is shortly to give a vaudeville programme at 3YA. On Anzac Day a service to be held in the Christchurch Anglican Cathedral will be broadcast. Mr. Frank Milner, C.M.G., Rector of Waitaki High School, will be the speaker.
