GPECIALLY featured on 2YA’s programme last Wednesday evening, March 25, at the conclusion of the international concert programme, was a session of dance music provided by one of the most popular of New York dance orchestras-the Lido-Venice Orchestra, conducted by Nat Brusiloff. This orchestra has long been a favourite with New York dancers and Nat Brusiloff is a very well known figure in the radio world, as a violin soloist and conductor. Born in Russia, Brusiloff came to America when he was a year and a half old. The off-spring of a musical family-one of his cousins is conductor of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, while another is head of the violin department of the Petrograd Conserva-tory-it was only natural that he should take up the study of music. All

of his training he received from his father, a well-known violinist. At the age of fourteen he was one of the first violins in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a post he held for many years. Leaving Baltimore, Brusiloff organised his own band and for several seasons he was featured at. one of the fashionable supper clubs j Washington, D.C. He was so successful in the capitol city that he was offered a position in-one of New York’s ultra-smart night clubs. He became an immediate vogue. there and his Lido-Venice Orchestra is a favourite with all New York club frequenters, The programme presented last Wednesday evening was the first of a series’ of weekly programmes by the LidoVenice Orchestra, which is certain. to enjoy great popularity among New Zealand listeners.
