Congratulatory Letters ROM. listeners-in all, over New ZeaeJland the Broadcasting Company has received many expressions of ap-

preciation for the service rendered during the crucial time of the recent catastrophe m Hawke’s Bay. The following Jetter has been received from Mr. H. Snowdon: Fairchild, secretary of .the Wellington Chamber of Commerce :- "At a meeting of the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce held this week, reference was made to the great services and aid rendered by your company in connection with the recent disaster in Hawke’s Bay, and I. was directed to convey to you an expression of appreciation of this great assistance, not only in the circulation of news, but also to the great facility and assist‘ance in:the arrangements for relief." Letters have also come from much further afield than New Zealand. A heavy mail has been received from the Australian States-Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. A typical one comes from a Mr. R. B. Gillespie, of Dalby, Queensland, 150 miles west of Brisbane. It reads: . "May I take this opportunity of expressing appreciation to 2YA for the manner in which authentic news regarding the earthquake disaster was broadcast last evening. Dalby is situ-

ated 150 miles west of Brisbane, 4 though my receiving set is only a three valve, with a P.I. cireuit, recepti was very good. "The manner in which the names of the injured persons were announcedleft nothing to be desired, Wireless ha. again proved its worth in times of need, and when the story comes to completely chronicled it will be see that help and succour were speeded on its way to the poor unfortunate victimg; by the ether. "Many persons resident in Australia have relatives and friends in New Zea land, and early authentic information of the disaster would be much appreciated by them. Station 2YA certainly played its part and kept on the air till after 10 p.m. (our time), as I heard your’. closing announcement, ‘Good morning,’ etc. I trust that many letters expressing appreciation at the fine service rendered by 2YA. will be reeceived.. Thanking you and again pressing appreciation." :
