| a Service to England. T is announced by eable from London that the opening of the LondonNew Zealand telephone service is expected to take place on Friday, December 19. In a statement the secretary of the Post and: Telegraph Department, . Mr. G. McNamara, explains that the cabled date was only a tentative one. At the ptesent time thé transmission at Sydney was causing: some _ trouble, and, although they had ‘been able to _ get through once or twice, no definite date could be fixed until the service had given complete satisfaction. With a Iyjtle luck they might be able to open service at the date mentioned.
