erably on approximately 680 k.c. (441 metres). The announcer spoke in a low voice, apparently not giving the call sign. At the end of ench item he would say, for example, "That was number 2; now we will have number 40." For the most part a man was singing. Heard between 8 and 8.15

On October 17 stations were heard on 2YA and 1YA’s frequencies. On the former the clock was chiming 9 p.m. (New Zealand time 11.80 p.m.). Static obliterated letters and call, but "Adelaide" was heard. The other was on music. Also, on October 19, a station was heard five metres below

At 11.55 p.m. on October 12 station almost on 4ZL, A man was talking, Mr. Fitzgerald. being mentioned. At 12 p.m. the latter spoke. At 12.10 a.m. National Anthem was played. Call sounded like 3CR. On the 18th, at 12.30 a.m. dials nearly the same. 12.45, lady speaking; 12.55, man singing; 1 a.m., three fox-trots and then the announcement -DF. On October 15, 7.55 p.m., between 2YB and 4ZL, station on old-time songs; also at 7.40 p.m. one degree above 2ZI man singing, followed by band selections, and then violin and piano solos.

Station on 25.4 metres heard testing recently. Comes in well at R9 with records and talk and generally calls "Ollo, ullo, Torquay, here is Saigon." American Verifications. NOTICH Mr. Sellens reports hear: ing stations WI1XAZ and W1IXAD. ‘These are probably W1XAE, East Sp: negfield, Massachusetts. This station was heard some time ago and cthe call sounded like W1IXAQH, which Ss listed in the latest call book as a ’ electic station. Verifieation from KTHS was received recently, and the following particulars of the station, which is located at Hot Springs, Arkansas, and operated by the Chamber of Commerce :-The letters KTHS mean "Kum to Hot Springs," and the operators of the station. invite listeners to visit this tourist resort. Frequency, 1040 kc. (288.83 metres), power, 10,000 watts. KMIC, Inglewood, California, also verified my reception. This station is operated by Daltons, Inc., Chamber of Commerce Buildings, Inglewood. On a card from KFI, Los Angeles, they state that KIFI operates on a fre-’ quency of 640 k.c. (468.5 metres) daily except Sunday from 7.30 a.m. to midnight P.S.T. On Sunday night KFi signs off at 11 p.m. P.S.T. A lot of space is used in DX notes with inquiries for station addresses. If listeners were to buy a "Radio Amateur Call Book" much of this space could be used for more interesting notes. The eallbook is obtainable at Te Aro Book Depot, Courtenay Place, Wellington.-

Short Wave News. T RECENTLY received a card from VK2HOC, Yarraman North Station, via Quirindi, N.S.W. The power used is 100 watts and he seems to have ‘worked every country in the world. For some time past a station on 23 metres (approx.) has been ealling Paris in French. This station is Radio Saigon. I also heard him calling JAA, Tokio, on October 18, when
he was talking in English and playing records. He said that he would "work Tokio from from 18 to 15} G.M.T. to-morrow on a wavelength of 7880 ke." Came in at a good R9. Station on 15.03 metres is SFR/PW3, Paris, on duplex with LP3, Buenos Aires and Saigon. One on 13.7 metres is Nauen, Germany, and one on 14.5 metres is PMB, Bandoeng, Java, on duplex with Nauen. One on 16 and 17 metres (approx.) is Bangkok, Siam. One on 2im (approx.)
