HE silver colour insidesa genuine Radiotron’ UX199 and UX-201-A. -is va chemically active substance always on the look-out. It is caused by the sudden evaporation of a bit of chem+ ical inside the valve, to.make the most nearly perfect commercial vacuum still more complete! But, after three methods of exhaust are applied to your Radiotron, there may still float about in it a few atoms of air or gas. They may be invisible to the finest microscope, . but they get in the way of perfect reception. The silver colour in the valves, however, is an active film that attracts and holds these air atoms--keeps them away from the vital parts of the valve-makes it work better-last longer. When you are buying a valve of the silvery type, and want to make sure of the efficiency of that inside watchman, just be sure to get a genuine RCA Radiotron. ‘The mark is on the bottom.
