BRIDGE TALKS From 1YA. At 7.40 p.m. at 1YA Mr. Norman Kerr will continue his lectures on "Physical Culture." Some months ago listeners had the pleasure of hearing from 1YA the orechestra of the Leys Institute. This combination of about 80. young players, trained and conducted by Mr. Harold Baxter, has arranged a particularly interesting programme for this evening. .There are some very fine solos to be played by three members of the orchestra: Master N. Sharpe (playing on the bells), Master John Taberner (a very promising Auckland violinist), and Miss Jean Clarkson (’cellist). The Leys Institute encourages’ the young people in many ways, helping them to develop their talents, not only in their daily occupations , but in any hobby they may take up, and the orchestra plays no small part in the many activities. In addition to the items by . the orchestra there will be soprano solos by Miss Laura Walker and -novelty vocal and instrumental numbers by the Cambrian Duo, a new combination at 1YA. Mr. T. T. Garland will present humorous numbers. At 8.45 the first of a series of talks on "Bridge" will be given by Mr. T. Boyce, the well-known Auck-

THE results of trotting races at Addington will be broadcast in the afternoon. ; Mr. Leslie Harvey, the talented musician who presides at the organ in the Christchurch Civie Theatre, will give his last broadcast performance this evening, He is shortly leaving Christchurch to take up an appointment in Sydney. In the second half of the evening’s programme 38YA will switch over for

a while to the Jellicoe Hall, where the annual smoke concert of the Returned Soldiers’ Association is to be ‘held. 8YA’s studio programme will be of a miscellaneous nature. The vocalists will be Mrs. D. W. Stallard! and Mr. W. Bradshaw. Humorous items will be given by Mr. Frank Moran and an instrumental programme will be provided by the Studio Octet under Mr. Harold Beck. \. An afternoon talk, "Rest and Restful Pictures," and an evening talk for farmers are scheduled at 4YA. Both fiave been arranged hy the 4YA Primary. Productions Committee. The concert programme wil be of a light nature. Foxtrots and other dance tunes with vocal choruses will be played by the Novelty Syncopators. Soloists for the evening will be Miss D. M. Sligo (soprano), Mr. J. Swan (tenor), Mr. J. A. Paterson (Seqttish humour), and Miss -M. Seelye (elocutioniste).’ There will be a dance music session from 9.30 till 11.
