ACCORDING to Anierican advices, some of the important newspapers of the United States are becoming more and more iriterested in radio as ‘a means of supplementing their newsgathering facilities, as well as rendering additional service to their public by a radio news and entertainment service. The Federal Radio Commission fas recently granted a permit to the Chicago "Daily News" to work a 1000watt experimental relay broadcasting station. Permission has also been granted to the same newspaper to build a new 5000-watt experimental visual broadcasting station at Chicago. The Chicago "Daily, Tribune," in cormpetition with the-"‘Daily News," has also been given authority to install up-to-broadcasting equipment. The staWiion now operates on 720 kilocycles "with power of. 25,000 watts.
