Reducing A.C. Hum
y TF you use an A.C. eliminator for your "A" or "B" supply, you may be troubled with a slight hum, continually audible in the loudspeaker. This should not be prominent with a well designed eliminator, but the hum may also occur if your lighting circuit is A.G., whether you use it for supplying the receiver or not. This hum can be materially reduced,. and even sometimes eliminated altogether, by lowering the value of the detector grid leak. Values down to about } megohm should be tried. The value of the grid condenser may also be varied with success. Here the capacity may be lowered to .0001. without seriously impairing the functioning of the receiver.
